Genlux Magazine and BritWeek are pleased to present the 2010 Genlux BritWeek Designer of the Year Award and Fashion Show, honoring British designer Matthew Williamson. A graduate of Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design, Matthew interned under Zandra Rhodes and worked for Monsoon before rocketing to the forefront of British fashion with his own label. He has shown at London and New York Fashion Week for more than 12 years, and we are thrilled to present his first fashion show on the west coast.
BritWeek will also honor the brilliance of the late Alexander McQueen with a retrospective fashion show of his work, including items that have never been seen on the runway. The renowned British designer distinguished himself with dramatic tailoring, groundbreaking collections and avant-garde shows. He is greatly missed.
This exclusive evening also features a very special musical performance by acclaimed British Operatic soprano Summer Watson. An avid philanthropist who uses her beautiful voice to campaign for important international humanitarian causes, Summer regularly performs around the world to sold-out houses, as well as for celebrities, royalty and international television audiences. She has appeared with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and is a regular performer in the Royal Household.
